Create Unique and Personal Christmas Ornaments using these Simple and Quick Free Patterns.
The following designs have been created to suit even the beginner knitter, as they are made on two needles; no circulars required. Christmas ParcelA cute parcel approximately 1 ½” cubed, to hang from your tree. Alternatively, make several and place in a bowl as a pretty centrepiece. Materials:
To Make: Cast on 10 sts and work 13 rows stocking (stockinette) stitch. Knit 1 row. Work 13 rows stocking stitch. Cast on 10 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows and work 11 rows stocking stitch. Cast off 10 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows. Work 13 rows stocking stitch. Cast off. Short RibbonCast on 40 sts. Knit 1 row. Cast off. Long Ribbon Cast on 100 sts. Knit 1 row. Cast Off To Make Up: Sew up the box, leaving an opening to stuff. Stuff the box and sew the remaining seam(s) Put the short ribbon into place and sew the ends to the parcel. Tie the long ribbon into place. Christmas StarThis is a pretty star knitted in simple lace. Make as a tree decoration, or hang in front of windows to show the world your knitting skills. Materials: 4mm needles Approx 10g of Double Knitting Weight Yarn To Make: Cast on 10 sts and K 1 row. 2nd row: Sl1, Inc1, *yf, K2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2tog. 3rd row: K to end. Rep the 2nd and 3rd rows twice more. Cast off, leaving one st on the needle. Pick up 9 stitches from side of parallelogram and repeat four times. Sew up the last seam to complete the star. Christmas BellA pretty bell to add a traditional note to your tree decorations. Materials: 3.5mm needles. Approx 10g Double Knitting Yarn To Make: Cast on 4 sts and work 4 rows stocking stitch Row 5: Increase into each stitch (8 sts) Row 6: and every even row - P Row 7: *inc1, k1; rep from * to end (12 sts) Row 9: *k2, inc1; rep from * to end (16 sts) Row 11: *inc1, K3; rep from * to end (20 sts) Row 13: k2 *inc1, K4; rep to last 3 sts, inc1, K2 (24 sts) Row 15: K Row 17: *inc1, K5; rep from * to end (28 sts) rows 18 to 23 work in stocking stitch Row 24: *inc1, K1; rep from * to end (42 sts) Row 25: *inc1, K5; rep from * to end (49 sts) Row 26: *inc1, K6; rep from * to end ( 56 sts) Row 27: K3, *inc1, K7; rep from * to last 5 sts, inc1, K4 (63 sts) Row 28: K Cast off loosely. Fold in half and sew up side seam. Use the tail from the cast on to create a small hanging loop at the top of the bell. The second article in this short series contains more free patterns.
