Practice your cable knitting technique and make this useful cup cozy which helps to keep your coffee warm without burning your hands.

This cup sleeve uses cable techniques for its pattern, and uses a little short row shaping to suit the conical shape of paper coffee cups.

  • Approx 20g aran weight yarn
  • Size 4mm needles
  • 1 x cable needle.

  • 12cm/ 4 ¾ inches deep

Abbreviations

  • C4F Cable 4 Front. Slip the next two stitches onto the cable needle and leave at the front of the work. Knit the next two stitches and then knit the two stitches from the cable needle.
  • C4B Cable 4 Back. Slip the next two stitches onto the cable needle and leave at the back of the work. Knit the next two stitches and then knit the two stitches from the cable needle.

  • Tw3B Twist 3 Back. Slip the next stitch onto the cable needle and leave at the back of the work. Knit the next two stitches and then purl the stitch from the cable needle.
  • W&T Wrap and Turn – make sure that the yarn to the front of the work. Slip the next stitch. Take the yarn to the back of the work (thus wrapping it around the slipped stitch) and slip the stitch back on to the left hand needle. Turn. This is a method adopted when using short rows for shaping as it prevents the turning of the work from forming holes in the knitted fabric.
